The Texas Zoofari Park is located in Kaufman, TX, about 45 minutes East of Dallas. The Safari Park is rapidly growing and searching for motivated individuals to join our animal care team. We are looking for individuals with a broad range of animal experience. The park houses mainly hoofstock; however, we are rapidly growing and adding a variety of birds, kangaroos, and primates.

Animal Care Manager

Position Type: Full-Time

Currently seeking individuals who are energetic and hardworking and share a passion for animal care. We strive to provide the best possible experience for our animals, guests, and staff. The ability to follow a strict personal dress code and maintain a valid driver’s license is required.

Position Requirements
 
  • Direct oversight of the animal collection, including two section assistant curators and a full-time staff of 15-20 animal keepers.
  • Ensure a high level of animal care and welfare.
  • Reflect current trends and practices in the zoological field, including exhibition and care.
  • Reviews, creates, maintains and provides both leadership and oversight for policies, procedures and protocols related to animal care and handling.
  • Record-keeping and collection management will be of paramount importance.
  • An understanding of nutrition, conformation, breeding habits, proper display techniques, and an eye for animal health and well-being
  • Develops and manages, with senior staff, behavioral conditioning and enrichment plans.
  • Daily inspections of all sections, animals and staff.
  • Works with the Director to develop annual departmental budgets, species procurement and capital improvements as they relate to Animal Care.
  • Ability to dart and assist with veterinary procedures
 
Required Qualifications
 
  • 5+ years of paid experience in a zoological park/ breeding center/ranch with exotics, with at least 3 years of ever-increasing responsibilities in a Curator or Senior Lead position.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with a broad range of animal species.
  • Record-keeping, collection management experience.
  • Familiarity with basic medications and vaccination programs.
  • BS in the animal related sciences preferred./li>
  • Professional in both demeanor and appearance.
  • Very physically fit.

Animal Keeper

Position Type: Full-Time

Position Requirements
 
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of exhibits.
  • Diet preparation and feeding.
  • Assist in vet and medical procedures.
  • Daily observation of animals for injuries, breeding, and general healthcare.
  • Help with capture, moving, and handling of large hoofstock according to set policies and procedures.
  • Administer proper enrichment to various animal species.
  • Use large machinery, power tools, and lawn equipment safely.
  • Must be able to communicate and give keeper talks to guests through formal and informal encounters.
 
Required Qualifications
 
  • 1-year animal care experience (paid or unpaid)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, and climb for prolonged periods of time.
  • Weekend and holiday availability
  • Must have reliable transportation

Grounds Keeper

Position Type: Full-Time, Part-Time

The Texas Zoofari Park is seeking friendly, detail-oriented, self-motivated Groundskeepers who can be team players and strive to keep the park looking its best! Full-time and part-time positions are available.

Position Requirements
 
  • Answers to Guest Services Manager or Director/Asst Director
  • Cleans all zoo public areas before guests enter zoo
  • Blow off debris from pathways and pick up trash
  • Wash exterior building windows
  • Remove cobwebs from public areas
  • Maintains the clean appearance of the zoo throughout the day by:
  • Picking up trash and changing out trash can liners
  • Collecting used feed cups
  • Checking, cleaning and restocking restrooms
  • Cleaning the parking lot and picnic pavilion
  • Completes additional projects as determined by the management team, such as pressure washing, painting, etc.
 
Job Responsibilities
 
  • This job is outdoors; must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to walk/stand for the duration of shift
  • Must maintain a neat appearance and friendly attitude
  • Must be a self-motivated individual
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work weekends

Guest Services Team Member

Position Type: Full-Time

The Texas Zoofari Park seeks motivated individuals to join our Zoo Crew in the Guest Services Department. The ideal candidate must be friendly, outgoing, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Weekends/Holidays required. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

Position Requirements
 
  • Operate point of sale system in admissions/retail and/or cafe setting.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and a positive, friendly attitude.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of shift.
 
Job Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for selling admission tickets, annual memberships, animal feed, gifts, snacks, food, etc.
  • Basic cleaning duties.
  • Accurately ring transactions through a Point-of-Sale system, give correct change, and process credit card transactions.
  • Answering phones.
  • Assisting visitors with questions or concerns.
  • Wagon Tour Drivers: a specialty team of guest services that provides guided wagon tours in the park for guests and groups
 

Past experience in customer service and/or retail a plus. You must be 16 to apply and 18 with a clean driving record to apply for wagon tour driver positions. This is a non-smoking facility. No facial piercings are permitted. Flexible scheduling and a fun work environment!

 
Job Type
